A Techno Park is to be established in the Uva province to strengthen the regional ecosystem through technology innovation, diffusion, startup and career advancement, official sources said.
The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ICTA and TRACE Expert City (Technology Reawakening Culture of Excellence) Uva Chapter recently, to set up this Park.
A framework for this purpose will b formalizing and the mutual agreement and understanding had been reached to establish, construct, operate and maintain a Tier II Techno Park within the Uva Province of Sri Lanka.
The Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) with its vision and policy to build a technology-centric economy has initiated the establishment of Technology Parks through the Ministry of Technology (MoT), throughout identified locations in Sri Lanka.
ICTA therefore has been tasked with carrying forth the developments and establishment of Regional Clusters within which several Techno Parks are to be established in identified provinces.
This initiative will be implemented through its technology transformation strategy to facilitate tehnological development initiatives.
The TRACE City Uva Chapter will facilitate the development of technology within the UVA province by providing assistance in designing, setting-up, organizing, and managing TRACE Chapter in the identified location at the Uva Province.
